History

 

  • Founded in 1949 by Janet Miller as the female counterpart to Camp Moosilauke

  • Presently owned and directed by the 3rd generation of the Miller family

Location

 

  • Upper Baker Pond in Orford, New Hampshire

  • 30 miles north of Dartmouth College, 20 miles west of Plymouth, NH

  • Our lake is a mile long and half a mile wide

  • The majority of Upper Baker Pond shoreline is Merriwood/Moosilauke property - the lake is quiet all summer

  • Over 50 acres of playing fields and forest

Enrollment

 

  • Approximately 135 campers:  Both domestic (representing >20 states) and international (representing >7 countries)

  • All staff are at least 18 years old, representing >10 countries

  • 1:3 staff to camper ratio

  • Full season session (7 weeks), or 1st session (4 weeks), or 2nd session (3 weeks)

Program

 

  • Arts & Crafts, Dance, Gymnastics and Drama

  • Biking:  15 Cannondale mountain bikes for classes, trail riding and bike trips

  • Riding:  Stables on the premises, 7 horses

  • Rock Climbing:  Rock wall with routes of varying difficulty and a 250' zipline

  • Sailing:  Fleet of RS Zest

  • Crew:  (2) 4-man boats, 2 singles

  • Canoes, Playaks, Paddleboards

  • Soccer, lacrosse, softball, volleyball, lighted basketball court

  • Archery Range

  • Swimming:  American Red Cross swim program, levels 1-6, 15 year olds offered ARC lifeguarding

  • Tennis:  6 hard surface courts in 2021 (2 lighted for night play)

  • Waterskiing:  2 Ski Nautique competition ski boats

Food

 

  • Delicious, well-balanced meals with meat/vegetarian/gluten-free choices

  • Allergies:  any potential allergy concerns are posted on the white board in the dining room.  We are peanut-sensitive, not peanut-free.  Although we don’t serve peanut butter, some of our ingredients may have been processed in a facility with peanuts.

  • Family style dining

  • One sitting at each meal
